Mabalacat City College (MCC) joined the international community in celebrating Europe Day through a series of activities that promote global awareness and international cooperation.
On May 9, 2025, MCC lit up its campus façade with the colors of the European Union. This annual activity serves as a visual expression of the institution’s commitment to global citizenship and its continuing efforts to become an internationalized higher education institution.
As part of the celebration, a webinar titled: "Memes, Money, and 'Magne': How the Everyday Reinforces and Manifests the European Imagined Community" was held on May 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM via MS Teams. The speaker was Dr. Manuel Enverga III, Jean Monnet Chair of European Studies and Director of the European Studies Program at Ateneo de Manila University.
Dr. Enverga discussed how everyday experiences—such as the use of memes, money, and shared history—contribute to shaping a European identity. He also explained how these elements help create a sense of belonging among European citizens. The talk included comparisons between European and ASEAN identity-building practices and highlighted how European Studies research can be done in the Philippine context.
The webinar was attended by AB History students of MCC and was also open to the public, encouraging greater participation in discussions on regional identity and international studies.
Through this event, MCC strengthened its commitment to providing students with academic opportunities that promote understanding of global issues and regional integration.
