OMLI Tests Mabalacat River’s Water Quality for Environmental Restoration

As part of the River Restoration Project, Ostrea Mineral Laboratories, Inc. (OMLI) conducted water quality testing across the major rivers of Mabalacat City, including the Sapang Balen River on 17 March 2025. Water samples are set to undergo comprehensive laboratory analysis to assess water quality parameters such as pH levels, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and potential pollutant concentrations.

The activity was a collaborative initiative under the River Restoration Project jointly led by Mabalacat City College - Institute of Arts and Sciences (MCC-IAS) and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Mabalacat City. The assessment was carried out with the participation of notable representatives, including Engr. Pena from CENRO and Project Leader from MCC, Dr. Marilyn S. Arcilla.

Water samples were strategically gathered from various sub-sites along the Mabalacat River system. Results from the tests would provide detailed analysis of the current state of the river water and would be used to direct and regulate future restoration strategies.

The River Restoration Project aims to implement evidence-based strategies for pollution control, habitat restoration, and community awareness.

MCC Students Sustain: Vegetable Garden for Lola Nors Restaurant

On December 16, 2024, a group of Hospitality students from Mabalacat City College, led by Gillian Castillo, Kenlie Shane Ematong, Arshyend Mercado, and Lalaine Regala, successfully proposed the creation of a vegetable garden for Lola Nors Restaurant, located in Mabalacat City. The initiative, aimed at contributing to sustainable practices in the restaurant industry, emerged after the students conducted a series of immersive studies and assessments at the restaurant to identify sustainability challenges.
