CARAGAN in MCC: A Celebration of Culture and Unity

December 18, 2024

Students from various Institutes showcased their talents as they took the Mabalcat City college’s stage in reenactment dance of the Caragan Festival on 16 December 2024. This marked the integration of Mabalacat City’s cultural heritage into the MCC-101 course, a core subject designed to orient students to the institution's values and foster civic engagement.

Students from all Institutes participated with enthusiasm, presenting a series of captivating dance performances inspired by Mabalacat’s culture and history. Dressed in colorful costumes, the participants drew cheers from a lively audience composed of faculty members, staff, and fellow students.

The event served as a platform for students to express their love for Mabalacat’s history and traditions through creative performances. Each performance not only displayed the students' artistic flair but also paid homage to the cultural richness of the city, named after Datu Caragan, the early chieftain of the Aeta community in the area.

Spearheaded by the Professors of the Institute of Arts and Sciences, this event brought the spirit of the community to life, intertwining academic learning with cultural appreciation. By immersing students in cultural activities such as this, MCC reaffirms its commitment to a holistic and community-driven education.

The success of the festival underscores the importance of connecting education to local culture. By celebrating the Caragan Festival, MCC not only honors its past but also inspires its students to carry the legacy of Mabalacat City into the future.
