Kapampangan Writing Workshop 2021

August 03, 2021

As MCC continues to aim for the preservation and promotion of Kapampangan culture, literature, and arts in different opportunities, on July 26, the five-day Kapampangan writing workshop was launched in partnership with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts. Prominent Kapampangan writers and luminaries were invited by MCC to form part of the pool of lecturers and trainers who spearheaded the “Kapampangan Writing Workshop 2021”.

Dr. Juliet C. Mallari, Head of the National Committee on Literary Arts together with Dr. Victorio N. Sugbo, a Professor from the University of the Philippines (Visayas) and an award-winning poet, shared their expertise on Kapampangan essay and poetry, respectively.

Participants were taught the rules in writing an essay and a poem. At the end of the workshop, selected participants performed their piece in a mini recital during the closing ceremony.

Mr. Raymond John D. Vergara, Vice President for External Affairs, said that “it is a great honor for MCC to be part of this workshop. This partnership allows other Kapampangans to express their thoughts and emotions through writing in their native language.”

Likewise, Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, President of Mabalacat City College, expressed her warm gratitude to the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) for the successful activity and for their support to the college’s program in the preservation of culture.
