Mabalacat City College (MCC) participated in the “Food Safety Consultancy Program 2023 " organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The Central Luzon Safety Academy facilitated the seminar write-shop focused on providing essential knowledge for Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval processes. MCC's participation is essential for the future plans related to Balakat Tea, particularly in streamlining the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process.
The eight-day seminar conducted a comprehensive discussion on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Manual, Sanitation Operations Rules, Programs, And Procedures (SSOPs), Production Standard Operating Policies, Programs and Procedures (PSOPs), and Quality Standard Operating Policies, Programs, And Procedures (QSOPs) attended by the Institutional and Community Research Coordinator of the Center for Community Research and Innovation Ms. Larrey Y. Ordoñez.
Furthermore, this also provided access to the latest information on local FDA laws and recommendations, ensuring that products and procedures remain compliant with Philippine standards. This is significant in preventing compliance issues and potential legal complications concerning Balakat Tea's future endeavors.
Participating in such events not only fosters professional growth, but also contributes significantly to the safety, quality, and success of the Balakat Tea Project of the college. The FDA-approved WriteShop by the DOST equipped participants with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively interact with local regulatory authorities, present data, address concerns, and demonstrate compliance, simplifying communication with the Philippine FDA during inspections, submissions, and approvals.
