MCC DigiHub Personalized Learning Unit for Students (PLUS)

June 28, 2021

Master of Public Administration (MPA) students of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) presented their concept paper on Mabalacat City College DigiHub PLUS (Personalized Learning Unit for Students) on June 28, 2021, at MCC Cultural Hall before the management committee on a special meeting.

The team is composed of Ms. Carla Cunanan, Ms. Cherry Grace Ancheta, Mr. Boby Greyson De Guzman, Mr. Bryan Mendoza, Ms. Dianna Dizon, Ms. Grace Ann Marcelo, Ms. Isa Roane Chan, Ms. Sheryl Laine Datu, Ms. Melanie Batu, Ms. Dannah Marie Ragonjan and Ms. Isabel Capulong. They were coached by Dr. Michelle-Aguilar Ong, the College President, in design thinking together with Coach Adonis David and Professor Karlo Alvaro.

Their study explored solutions within institutions and external sources in order to help MCC in realizing its mission of becoming a center for learning in the community with an open admission policy and to eventually becoming the top choice for education and training for Mabalaqueños.

According to the group, Mabalacat City College has continuously developed and strived to provide quality education to its students by undertaking various transformational and academic development projects such as MCC DigiHub. The existing DigiHub provided access points that served as pick-up and drop-off points of modules and other learning materials for students, aligned with its Adaptive Framework.

However, given the continuously increasing number of enrollees, the college’s growth and aggressive positioning may be severely compromised. Ms. Carla Cunanan said, “ This is really a product of collaborative effort from our team and MCC. We are grateful that by October this year, the concept will be adopted by MCC. This would really contribute to the continuous improvement of the services", she added.

The MCC DigiHub PLUS is a proposed expansion of services of the existing DigiHub facilities. The presenters offered program enhancers such as facility MCC branding with open minimalist digital design, the appointment of DigiHub Coordinators, utilization of Student Portal with its E-Services among others.

The MCC management was enthusiastic about the proposed changes because it is aligned with their plan of going fully online this coming semester. The Executive Vice President, Atty. Charmaine Lansangan-Venturina said that MCC is really serious in adapting to the post-pandemic requirement of the industries by preparing its students with digital skills. She said that the President is determined to launch the MCC plus and that they were given two months until project implementation to prepare the implementing rules and regulation, retrofitting of the facility, communication plan to stakeholders, and simulation.
