MCC IHTM Students Feature Filipino Cuisine

Mabalacat City College's Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) organized a culminating activity for the BSHM-2A students titled "Kain Tayo: Enjoy the Grandness of our Filipino Food" on 03 July 2023 at MCC Hometown Bar and Restaurant. This offered a unique blend of tribal and traditional Filipino experiences that showcased the richness of Filipino culture.

The event aimed to provide an opportunity for attendees to savor the diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine from various regions across the country. It was a celebration of the culinary heritage of the Philippines.

The parents of the participating students recognized their children's involvement in the activity and commended both the students and the event organizers. They expressed delight and amazement at how the students were able to cook and present the dishes they had learned throughout their course.

They also commended MCC and IHTM for hosting such an event, emphasizing that it provided them with an authentic restaurant experience, from the impeccable service to the delectable taste of the dishes.

The support and presence of Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Romeo D. Erese III and Assistant Vice President for Student Life Prof. Beejay Sebastian reinforced the importance of this activity.

This activity served as a testament to MCC's commitment to experiential learning, ensuring that students are equipped with the practical skills and knowledge required by the industry. By organizing "Kain Tayo," the students had the opportunity to showcase their culinary talents and demonstrate what they had learned throughout their course of study. The event themed, “Ihip, Daloy at Sinag: Pagtatagpo ng Landas, Pagtahak sa Pangarap,” was part of the 30th CHED Anniversary and the 4th Higher Education Day.

Seedlings Planted for River Restoration

Continuing the Sapang Balen River Restoration commitment sealed between MCC-IAS and the CENRO of LGU Mabalacat, the Institute of Arts and Sciences faculty and staff, once again challenged the heat index of May 8, 2024 and headed to Barangay Poblacion, to plant some calamansi seedlings along the banks of Sapang Balen, Mabalacat City. The tree planting activity is the initial stage of the many lined up activities aimed at restoring the river and its flora and fauna to eventually improve the river ecosystem.
