2 June 2023—Mutya Publishing House Inc. (MPHI) spearheaded a Textbook Writing Seminar at the MCC Hometown Bar and Restaurant to equip MCC faculty and staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to author textbooks.
MPHI Editor-in-Chief Ms. Maria Teresa Antonino led the discussions about essential aspects of book writing and publishing, common writing strategies, intellectual property, and royalty. One of the highlights of the seminar was the focus group discussion between Ms. Antonino, who provided valuable insights and guidance on the subject, and the faculty. The faculty found this interaction beneficial for their development in worktext writing.
This activity is in consonance to the Memorandum of Agreement of MCC and MPHI signed last 11 May 2023 aiming to publish books authored by MCC faculty members. The books will serve as valuable learning materials for the students.
Several courses such as Art Appreciation, Life and Works of Rizal, Mathematics in the Modern World, and Purposive Communication underwent the first draft editing. These General Education worktexts are the first set of books to be released.
MCC faculty and staff expressed their appreciation for the seminar, describing it as collaborative and informative. “This seminar gave me a deeper understanding on worktext writing, its ins and outs, pros and cons, and how much it can help our students in terms of providing contextualized books for the MCC Community”, Content Quality Assurance Staff Ms. Kaserin Icmat noted.
Participants were also awarded with certificates acknowledging their collaboration and commitment to academic excellence and professional development. This activity strengthens the efforts of MCC and MPHI to provide quality educational resources and foster continuous growth among the faculty.
