The 8th and the 1st of the year’s town hall meeting was conducted earlier today and facilitated by the offices of the Building and Maintenance Unit, Planning and Legal Office, and the Health Services Unit.
Sir Basty Sebastian, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Support Services, welcomed everyone and formally opened the meeting wishing everyone well and gave a rundown of the meeting’s agenda. He shared that conducting a virtual town hall meeting is one of the best practices that MCC has. It has even received commendation from various sources, and he further said that these town hall meetings ensure that relevant and appropriate information go to the whole MCC community.
First on the agenda, as the old adage has it, is safety. Sir Demi Dolandolan, Jr., MCC’s Building and Maintenance Head, discussed the MCC’s Fire Emergency Evacuation Plan and Procedure. It included topics of the Fire Brigade, its composition, and its duties and responsibilities. He went on saying that we will ensure that those who will comprise the Fire Brigade will receive the training required of them to carry out their duties effectively. Sir Demi likewise shared the College’s Evacuation Plan which he urged everyone to get acquainted with and not look at them as mere photos on our walls.
Next on the day’s agenda, Ma’am Maricris Macabanti of the Legal and Planning Office, briefly discussed the creation of a “Crisis Management Committee” as part of the College’s pandemic response regarding the conduct of the Limited Face to Face Classes. Among others, the committee shall be in charge of: assessing the readiness of MCC to conduct limited face to face classes; creating the institution’s health and safety protocols; disseminating appropriate and relevant information to stakeholders; and to regularly convene to discuss issues and other concerns.
Lastly, Nurse Flor Non, Head of MCC’s Health Services Unit, discussed the adjustments on the Policy for Home Quarantine and the new policy regarding Illness Reporting which she reminded everyone is strictly being implemented. She made clear that these policies are adopted from the policies of the Civil Service Commission. She also discussed and reiterated to follow the College’s Health and Safety Measures to help curb the spike in numbers of the Covid-19 infection.
