Mabalacat City College, represented by Prof. Raymond Vergara, attended the Association of Local Colleges and Universities-Region III (ALCU-R3) last 24 April 2023 to share its best practices in the innovative technology and Workforce Development with the ALCU-R3 members as encouraged by the Regional Director Leonida Calagui.
Professor Vergara was given an opportunity to present before the deans and administrators of the HEIs attendees. He introduced MCC's operation on Workforce Development concerning its main objective of creating economic prosperity for individuals, businesses, and communities. He also discussed the concept of Community Colleges with the participants and emphasized the unique identity of LUCs compared to SUCs and Private HEIs.
Owing to the presentation of Professor Vergara, the other colleges' deans and officials wanted to learn more and visit the college for in-depth benchmarking, particularly on the pioneering work of MCC on Contract Education. Aside from Workforce Development matters, the participants also maximized the opportunity to inquire about MCC’s Internationalization initiatives. They also encouraged MCC to lead a particular group of LUC Linkages Officers in Central Luzon that will ensure strategic cooperation for advancing the Community College Framework, Workforce Development, and the Internationalization of LUCs.
To date, through its President, Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, MCC is assisting the City College of San Fernando in its transition to a community college framework. MCC hopes that more colleges adopt the model to create better communities, not just in the local communities but also in the Philippines.
