In celebration of knowledge and community empowerment, student leaders from Mabalacat City College (MCC) gathered for the "Innovate to Elevate: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities in Student-Driven Community Research and Engagement" seminar-workshop at the Cultural Hall on 12 December 2023. Organized by the Center for Community Research and Innovation, this aimed to equip student leaders with insights and skills needed to spearhead advocacy-driven data community research projects.
Center for Community Research and Innovation Director James Darwin N. Lagman welcomed the attendees enthusiastically, emphasizing the importance of student-led initiatives in community research and the transformative power of advocacy-driven data.
Kayantabe Manager Ms. Carol Arboleda spearheaded the first talk, entitled Empowering Communities - A Leadership Approach Rooted in Advocacy. Ms. Arboleda shared insights on empowering communities through a leadership approach rooted in advocacy. Drawing from her experiences as Kayantabe Manager, she highlighted the pivotal role student leaders play in driving positive change within communities.
Meanwhile, Assistant Vice President for Management of Academic Processes and Systems Mr. Erick Jaie David discuss the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence and advocacy on his talk, Innovative Approaches - AI Integration for Enhanced Advocacy and Student Engagement. Mr. David delved into the innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for enhanced advocacy and student engagement. His talk explored the cutting-edge ways technology can amplify the impact of student-driven initiatives.
The final talk entitled Beyond Numbers - The Impact of Advocacy-Driven Data in Community Research was discussed by Mr. James Darwin N. Lagman which underscored the transformative impact of leveraging data for advocacy within communities. The event concluded with an open forum, providing a platform for participants to engage with the speakers and each other.
The "Innovate to Elevate" seminar-workshop served as a dynamic platform for MCC student leaders to gain insights, forge connections, and chart a course toward impactful community research and engagement. As they return to their organizations armed with newfound knowledge, MCC student leaders are poised to drive positive change with the transformative tools of advocacy-driven data.
