Mabalacat City College (MCC) continues to serve as a model institution for local colleges in the region, as it welcomed the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gerona, Tarlac, for a benchmarking activity — the second of its kind this year, following a similar visit by San Manuel, Tarlac, just a month prior.
The visit aimed to gain insights into MCC’s successful practices in community college governance, administration, and academic excellence.
“MCC will always be ready and accommodating for other local government units who wish to have a community college,” said Dr. Sonny De Guzman, College President, in his welcome remarks, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and educational development across local government units.
The program featured comprehensive presentations on MCC’s institutional history and milestones, organizational structure, institutes and academic programs, awards and distinctions, as well as best practices in governance and education.
These key topics were thoroughly discussed by Dr. Myrna Calma, Vice President for Administration, and Ma’am Jennyfer Merza, Vice President for External Affairs, who shared MCC’s journey and strategic initiatives that contributed to its growth and recognition.
Supporting the event further, Dr. Marilyn Arcilla, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Sir Glen Nolasco, Vice President for Research, extended their assistance during a campus tour. Guests were given a first-hand look into MCC's facilities and learning environment — graciously facilitated by Dean Joven Ocampo and select students from the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM), who exemplified MCC’s brand of hospitality and service.
As MCC continues to serve as a benchmark institution for others, the College remains committed to its mission of promoting quality education, innovation, and local empowerment through community colleges.
