Mabalacat City College (MCC) Explores Cooperation Opportunities with Chinese Firms

Mabalacat City College (MCC) visited Tianjin Railway Technical and Vocational College on 10 April 2023 to explore potential cooperation opportunities in rail transit training. MCC President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong and her team were warmly welcomed by Yu Zhongwu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the College, and Li Zhihui, Vice-President, of the International Exchange Department head, among others.

During the visit, Dr. Aguilar-Ong and her team toured the college's locomotive maintenance depot, high-speed rail comprehensive training center, and other training venues. They experienced the high-speed rail simulation driving and were impressed by the training equipment's realistic and virtual reality-based approach.

Following the tour, the parties held discussions on further cooperation opportunities. Dr. Ong and the Deputy General Manager of Beijing Feihua International Education Consulting Co., Dong Jianing thanked the college for its support and expressed their admiration for the college's outstanding achievements in cultivating high-quality rail transit technology and skilled talents. They hoped to maintain close communication with the college in the future and establish long-term cooperative relations in areas such as teacher training, student exchange, and recruitment, to jointly contribute to the "Belt and Road" construction and train railways for the Philippines.

Yu Zhongwu introduced the visiting guests to the college's foreign-related training, rail transit talent training, and Luban workshop construction work. He also highlighted Tianjin Railway Technical and Vocational College's commitment to serving the "Belt and Road" initiative and willingness to work with MCC to promote vocational education courses for rail transit majors, contributing to the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents serving both countries. MCC's visit to the Chinese college highlights the potential for cooperation between the two countries in vocational education exchanges and rail transit training.

Dr. Ferguson met with key MCC officials, including Dr. Marilyn Arcilla, OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs; Jennyfer Merza, MBA, Dean of the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management; the Vice President for Global Relations, Opportunities, and Workforce Development, Raymond John Vergara, MPR and the Assistant Vice President for Linkages and International Affairs, Kevin Aaron Peralta. The discussions focused on establishing meaningful partnerships between MCC and VIU.
