MCC Conducts Virtual Lecture: Understanding ASEAN Culture

March 18, 2021

Mabalacat City College, the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs, and the Internationalization Unit head in their Internationalization quest for more #thinkASEANfeelASEAN programs and advocacies. The College recently concluded a webinar on the same promotion featuring “UNDERSTANDING ASEAN Culture” last March 16, 2021, with no less than Ms. Anindya Putri Melati as a guest lecturer. Ms. Melati is the Associate Officer for the Culture and Information Division of the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ms. Melati shared how we, as members of the ASEAN region, can all do our share in preserving ASEAN culture and promote it to the rest of the world through songs, dances, traditions, and even food. She also shared her thoughts on how to be a “culture-preneur” – a word Ms. Melati coined herself in her suggestions on how the ASEAN youth can help promote the culture to the world together with understanding, appreciation, participation, and cultural advocacies.

The webinar was an afternoon of discoveries and a newfound drive for more ASEAN enculturation towards a sustainable region of #thinkASEANfeelASEAN and is also part of MCC’s program on Internationalization called the International Webinar Series. The series featured a specific theme focused on global concerns. Through this webinar, MCC was able to augment the community in global opportunities and holistic education.
