MCC Elevates Collaborative Endeavors with Embassy of France

Mabalacat City College welcomed distinguished guests from the Embassy of France to the Philippines on 17 January 2024, marking a significant stride towards fortifying international relations and fostering cultural exchanges.

French delegates Attaché for Cooperation Mr. Sylvain Lamourette and Embassy Intern Ms. Léa Chardonnet embarked on a day filled with strategic discussions. The visit kicked off with a gracious meeting with College President Michelle Aguilar-Ong, DPA, setting the stage for constructive dialogues on potential collaborative ventures.

The delegation also delved into discussions with Vice President for Global Opportunities and Workforce Development Raymond John D. Vergara, MPR. Emphasis was placed on identifying key areas for international exchanges, encompassing Sustainability, Diversity and Inclusion, Culture and Arts, as well as Hospitality and Tourism. Modalities for future collaborations were explored, including Mobility Programs, Curriculum Development, Enhancement, Scholarships, and Grants.

An integral aspect of the visit was the Information Session for Faculty and Students where Mr. Lamourette shared exciting academic opportunities, including graduate and post-graduate studies, along with enticing research grants awaiting MCC faculty in France. Discussions with students covered mobility and pathway programs, funding, grants for sustainability projects, and the showcasing of ongoing projects aligning with sustainability. OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs and IAS Dean Marilyn S. Arcilla, RN, MAN expressed gratitude for the enriching discussions from the French Embassy.

Meanwhile, the French Attaché commended the MCC Hospitality and Tourism students for their fine dining service in the campus’ Hometown Bar and Restaurant as they showcased proficiency in handling sophisticated banquets and reflecting the culinary excellence of Pampanga.

In the afternoon, the guests met with Mabalacat  City Mayor Hon. Crisostomo Garbo, who conveyed his delight at the linkages initiated by MCC. The campus and Clark were toured, featuring an exclusive visit to the New Clark International Airport followed by visits to the Clark Museum and Swissotel.

With the Embassy of France’s visit, Mabalacat City College elevated its commitment to nurturing robust international ties and collaborations with diplomatic organizations. MCC's affiliation with the Embassy of France is anticipated to propel international education and bring forth more developmental programs. The College looks forward to a future marked by strengthened global connections and enhanced educational opportunities.

Dr. Ferguson met with key MCC officials, including Dr. Marilyn Arcilla, OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs; Jennyfer Merza, MBA, Dean of the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management; the Vice President for Global Relations, Opportunities, and Workforce Development, Raymond John Vergara, MPR and the Assistant Vice President for Linkages and International Affairs, Kevin Aaron Peralta.
