Abstract

PetalPicks: The study developed PetalPicks, an interactive web-based application designed to address the operational challenges of Blooms and Petals, a flower shop in Mabalacat City, Pampanga. Traditional ordering methods—such as calls, messages, and manual price quotations—often resulted in delays, miscommunication, and limited customization options. To resolve these issues, the system integrated bouquet customization with real-time pricing, secure payment simulation, and an appointment booking module with calendar-based slot availability and automated email confirmations. Using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Prototyping Model, the system was designed, developed, and refined through continuous user feedback. Alpha testing was conducted by IT experts to validate functionality and identify initial system improvements. Beta testing followed, involving users familiar with e-commerce platforms to evaluate the system based on ISO 25010 quality characteristics, including functional suitability, performance efficiency, reliability, usability, security, maintainability, and portability. Results showed an overall Excellent rating in both Alpha (4.55) and Beta (4.67) testing, confirming that the system performed effectively across all intended features. PetalPicks demonstrated strong usability, stable operation, accurate booking processes, and consistent cross-device performance. Although payment integration used simulated e-wallet processes due to shop limitations, the system successfully fulfilled its goal of providing a modern, convenient, and user-friendly platform for bouquet arrangement and appointment scheduling. Overall, the study concludes that PetalPicks significantly improves customer experience and operational efficiency for Blooms and Petals, while offering a scalable model for future enhancements and broader adoption within the floral industry.
