Abstract

Deaf learners continue to face challenges in educational settings that depend heavily on spoken and text-based communication. This study developed Signify, an Android-based interactive e learning application designed to support American Sign Language (ASL) learning for Deaf individuals and educators. The Modified Waterfall Model guided the development process, which included requirements gathering, system design, coding, testing, and deployment. Signify features offline and online ASL video lessons, interactive assessments, real-time search, game-based exercises, progress tracking, and speech-to-text capabilities. The system was evaluated through ISO 25010 quality criteria using alpha testing with IT experts and beta testing with members of the Christian Society for the Deaf in Pampanga North. Results showed strong functional suitability, usability, compatibility, and reliability. Signify provides an accessible and scalable model for improving ASL learning and strengthening communication between Deaf and hearing users.
