Abstract

This study introduces SignSaya, a mobile-based Filipino Sign Language (FSL) application designed to support Deaf individuals, FSL learners, and teachers by providing accessible communication and learning tools. The system includes real-time FSL-to-Text and Text-to-FSL translation, an FSL dictionary, video demonstrations, a customizable interface, and a game-based quiz for learning enhancement. The system was developed using the Modified Waterfall Model of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring a structured process of analysis, design, development, testing, and refinement. Evaluation involved alpha testing with IT experts and beta testing with Deaf and hearing participants, including SPED teachers. Using the ISO 25010 Software Quality Model, results showed an alpha mean of 4.33 (Excellent) and a beta mean of 4.31 (Excellent), indicating improved usability and system performance. Overall, SignSaya is an effective tool that enhances FSL learning, communication accessibility, and inclusive education. The study aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily targeting Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
