Abstract
Modern technology has evolved into a valuable source of information that influenced users to create a variety of software and devices. Pets are both a source of happiness and stress reliever. The aim of this study is to develop a system that will help pet owners to ensure that pets can feed and monitor all the time by using the system entitled “Furbies: An IoT Based Smart Home Pet Monitoring System Using Android Mobile Application.” The researcher utilized the prototyping model to produced, tested, and modified as necessary feature of systems until an acceptable result was obtained from which the full system or product can be developed. The researcher successfully developed a mobile application that includes a controller to control the amount of food to low, medium and high that the IoT device has to give to the pets. The project device and mobile application have a push to talk feature: an ability to run a real-time call from mobile application to the project device, this is for the owner of their pets to hear them and to reduce or eradicate pet's stress and anxiety. The project also has a smart door, temperature checker that allows automatically turn on of exhaust fan, controllable on/off LED light bulb and automatic water server that continuously tops off the water container with a pet water spout. The ISO 25010 criterion was used to define and evaluate the application system. The findings of the application assessment and evaluation show that the Furbies mobile application and system features resulted to be very useful to its users.
