MC BALANGAY: An Android Based Application about the History of the Barangays in Mabalacat City

Abstract
History is critical for humanity's rich and diverse cultural expressions. Nowadays, documenting and having access to the history of a certain place can now be made easier through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The researchers aimed to develop an online mobile application that contains historical information about the barangay in Mabalacat City. Hence, they developed a mobile application for Android 7 and up named, MC Balangay. The application was designed for locals and tourists to be familiarized with the City’s history and what it has to offer. It also has a feature that allows users to watch infographic videos about the history of various barangays as well as a challenging quiz to take so that users can understand the historical information easily and effectively. Iteration Methodology was used in designing and developing the mobile application. Test cases were used to test the application based on the standard of ISO/IEC 25010, and the test results were described as “Passed”. Overall, testing was done successfully that no errors were generated and the system was still correctly functioning. The objectives of the study were met; therefore, the application was ready to be used by the Mabalaqueños and other tourists in the city. Future researchers may add additional features such as reference numbers to track the users. Likewise, future researchers may also add security safeguards such as user account verification.
