Abstract

Nowadays, the Internet is one of the technologies that is growing fast. Most houses now have access to the Internet for entertainment, social media, or communication with others. As it grows fast, many industries and departments utilize various technology such as laptops, mobile phones, and personal computers. Home automation system has increasing popularity due to their capabilities around people's houses. Different technologies have been combined with this home automation system idea to increase the features and functionality. The researchers came up with the idea to develop a device that can reduce electricity consumption by turning on and off light bulbs effortlessly and a wireless switch for the house's light with the use of the mobile phone. This study focused on building the SLS: An Automated Lighting System Using Android Mobile Application and Google Voice Assistance, developed to reduce electricity consumption and made people attain less energy consumption. Using the Android mobile application, users can control light bulb wireless with less effort. Additionally, with the Android mobile application, users can monitor and control light bulbs without taking a lot of energy to move and look for potential light bulbs consuming electricity without reason. With the features of Google Voice Assistance, even when the user is driving, one can remotely control the device at home. At the same time, the Motion Sensor features help to utilize electricity consumption economically. The overall functionality of the device prototype and Android mobile application has been tested through a series of test cases.
