Mabalacat City College Leads International Day of Peace Celebration in Partnership with Mabalacat Community High School

Mabalacat City College (MCC) spearheaded the celebration of the International Day of Peace with a World Flag Ceremony on September 27, 2024, —an event that highlighted the institution’s ongoing commitment to fostering unity, diversity, and peace within the community. In partnership with Mabalacat Community High School and supported by the MCC Campus Youth Ministry, the event transformed the campus into a vibrant display of global citizenship. 

The highlight of the ceremony was the display of flags from nations around the world, each representing cultural diversity and mutual respect. These flags served as symbols of the shared values that transcend borders, reminding everyone of the strength that comes from embracing differences and finding common ground. 

A particularly moving moment came when students formed a circle around the flags—a simple yet profound gesture calling for peace and understanding. This act reinforced the message that peace begins with individuals and their efforts to connect with others, breaking down barriers and fostering unity. 

Mr. Kevin Aaron M. Peralta, Assistant Vice President for Linkages and International Affairs at MCC, addressed the students and reflected on the deeper meaning of the ceremony. “This event is not just symbolic,” he said. “It’s a collective call for peace, driven by the energy of the students here today. Your voices have the power to shape a more peaceful world.” 

Mabalacat Community High School Principal, Mr. Chevy Tanglao, also spoke about the significance of the celebration in today’s global context. "At a time when the world is facing numerous challenges, gatherings like this provide a vital opportunity to reflect on the importance of unity and collaboration," he said. 

The World Flag Ceremony has become a cherished annual tradition at MCC, aligning with the college’s mission to promote inclusivity and global connection. More than just a visual display, the event celebrates shared values such as respect, empathy, and the desire for peace. 

This ceremony serves as a powerful reminder that peace is not an abstract ideal, but something that can be nurtured through action, understanding, and a willingness to embrace both our differences and our shared humanity. MCC continues to work towards spreading this culture of unity and diversity throughout Mabalacat City.
