MCC, DOE Host InfoSession on Sustainable Energy Consumption

Strengthening its advocacy for energy efficiency and sustainability, Mabalacat City College collaborated with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine Center for Energy Inc. for an Information Session on Sustainable Energy Consumption on 26 March 2025. This reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting responsible energy consumption, which aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7–Affordable and Clean Energy.

Topics on energy conservation, best practices in energy efficiency, and key policies related to sustainable energy use were discussed by Mr. Joel S. Miguel, Mr. Julius Caesar Pantaleon, and Engr. Jeddper De Castro from the Philippine Center for Energy Inc. to which students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders actively participated. Various companies and organizations, including Tata Consultancy, Teleperformance, SM Clark, and Puregold also attended the activity. This furthered the private sector’s growing interest in sustainability and energy efficiency as well as collaborations among different sectors.

“We are taking proactive steps to educate our stakeholders on the importance of sustainable energy practices. By partnering with the Department of Energy, we hope to inspire meaningful change in energy consumption habits. It is our goal to not only impart knowledge but also encourage responsible actions that contribute to a sustainable future,” Ms. Happy S. Pelayo, Vice President for Finance and Administration, highlighted on her opening remarks.

The institution continues to embody sustainable practices into its academic programs and institutional policies by organizing such activity. This ensures that students and stakeholders are well-equipped to contribute to climate action and energy conservation efforts.
