MCC Joins other Scholars in 2nd ICLCS

Mabalacat City College (MCC) participated the 2nd International Conference on Lantern and Cultural Studies on 21-23 February 2024 at the University of Assumption in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The conference provided a platform to explore diverse cultural themes, foster cultural awareness, and encourage appreciation for different cultures.

 

The three-day conference featured the opening of the Batiawan Art Exhibit and Lantern Making Workshop led by Mr. Roland Quiambao. MCC Director of the Center for Community Research and Innovation Mr. James Darwin Lagman presented his lecture titled “Illuminating Connections: Lanterns and Water in the Culture of Southeast Asia” during the plenary session.

 

During the parallel presentations, scholars and students showcased their research and case studies. MCC Institutional Research Coordinator Ms. Larrey Ordoñez discussed her research on “Struggle and Opportunities: A History of the Pamagduman in Santa Rita, Pampanga, in the Aftermath of the Mount Pinatubo Eruption (1991-2002).”

 

Representatives from MCC Center for Community Research and Innovation department joined scholars from various institutions including Holy Angel University, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga, City College of Angeles, UA, Central Luzon State University, UP Baguio, University of California (Davis), and Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth king India. KATATAGAN Inc and Department of Education (DepEd) were also present.

 

MCC is proactive in promoting and preserving the local culture and heritage of Pampanga. Participating such event serve as a testament to the college’s commitment to advocating impartation and exploration of cultural knowledge.

(PCEI) on 26 March 2025. This partnership intended to promote energy conservation, research collaboration, and sustainable energy practices within the institution and the broader community
