MCC Kayantabe completed the Clearing Operation at Sitio Haduan, Marcos Village last 21 June 2023. This is part of the Farmers Field School Project, which aimed to support farmers and promote sustainable agriculture in Sitio Haduan.
The cleared site will be the location of a nipa hut that will serve as the project’s hub, accommodating farmers as they attend workshops and discussions on modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and market opportunities to be organized by the Kayantabe Office.
Alongside this, various workshops were already conducted, that covered essential topics such as crop selection, land preparation, organic farming techniques, pest management, marketing strategies, and financial literacy. Also included in this project is the implementation of vegetable terraces that will help the farmers cultivate various cash crops. These efforts were aimed at empowering the farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable agricultural practices.
By spearheading such projects, the College empowers and cultivates the community of Indigenous People (IP) in Sitio Haduan, ensuring that they are equipped with efficient and sustainable farming practices.
