September 15, 2023

MCC Kayantabe in partnership with the City Population Gender and Development Office, and MCC History and Language Department spearheaded Project SAYAWIT: Sustainable Aims for Mag-Antsi Young Learners Anchored with Indigenous Peoples’ Tradition and Cultural Preservation.

The initiative aims to document and preserve the cultural dances of the local Ayta Mag-Antsi Tribe of Sitio Haudan, Marcos Village for the digital access and cultural appreciation of Mabalaqueños. The project is an action against the threat of a dying heritage of the Ayta Mag-Antsi.

Motivated by five (5) of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are: Goal 4: Quality Education; Goal 5: Gender Equality; Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities; Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, MCC Kayantabe together with the partner offices, plan to continue this initiative as a developing project which will be refined based on the gathered data for improvement in the forthcoming years.

Project SAYAWIT shows the commitment of Mabalacat City College in serving the community through cultural preservation, educating Mabalaqueños of the city’s roots.
