BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS

The Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Mathematics (BSEd Math) is one of the four (4) year collegiate degree programs in Institute of Arts, Sciences and Teacher Education. This program prepares and trains pre-service teachers who will teach Math subjects in the secondary level for both private and public schools in Mabalacat and other cities. The program is recognized by the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) and is Level 2 accredited by the Association of Local colleges and Universities -Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA). The program has produced graduates who passed the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) Licensure Examination for Teachers with a rating that is consistently above the national mean for 7 years.

Students in this program are trained to:

  • Be Competent in Mathematical concepts and procedures
  • Be Proficient in relating Mathematics to other curricular areas
  • Manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge of Mathematics
  • Be Competent in designing, constructing and utilizing different forms of assessment in Mathematics
  • Be Proficient in problem-solving by solving and creating routine and non-routine problems with different levels of complexity
  • Effectively use appropriate approaches, method, and techniques in teaching Mathematics including technological tools
  • Appreciate Mathematics as an opportunity for creative work, moments of enlightenment, discovery and gaining insights of the world

The Institution works in consonance with the Department of Education (DepEd) City Schools Division of Mabalacat City for the student to have their practice teaching in their final year of the program ensuring actual classroom experience in teaching in the public schools.

Furthermore, the Institute is proud of its graduates in the Math program because they get hired in various private educational Institutions around Mabalacat, Angeles and Tarlac.
