MCC and Langara College of Higher Learning – Canada Gears Up Partnership as Fall Semester Starts Next Week

Mabalacat City College and Langara College of Higher Learning in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, are already on their final preparations to start their respective academic terms (First Semester in MCC and Fall Term in Canada) both on September 6th.

MCC and Langara entered a partnership under the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Program for this upcoming semester through the MCC Internationalization Office, wherein students of both institutions will collaborate to develop a public domain resource database project.

The COIL Program will be under the guidance of 2 professors, one for each institution, who will guide them throughout the duration of the international program: MCC’s Asst. Vice-President and IASTE lecturer Prof. Basty A. Sebastian and Prof. Fiona Hunt, Langara’s Department Chair and Instructor for Library and Information Technology Program.

The COIL Program will engage 35 Langara students and 50 MCC IASTE students. This international collaboration intends to equip students with increased intercultural awareness,  enhanced communicative skills, and digital literacy skills to work in virtual teams while engaging in global problem solving.

Believing that international linkages directly impact workforce development, Mabalacat City College (MCC) President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong shared MCC’s best internationalization practices in a presentation titled, “Enhancing Workforce Development Through Internationalization,” during Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite (EAC-Cavite)’s Academic Convocation, where she served as a guest speaker on March 18, 2025, at EAC-Cavite Multipurpose Hall.
