MCC Holds In-SeT on Industry-Driven Curriculum Development

February 27, 2024

Reaffirming its commitment to providing quality education and bridging the gap between industry and academe, Mabalacat City College held a two-day In-Service Training for Program Heads, Faculty-in-Charge, Deans, and the Management Committee on 22-23 February 2024. The training aimed to equip educators and management personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop curricula tailored to the evolving needs of both the industry and academia.

Education Supervisor II from CHED Region I Dr. Al Gerald Barde served as the resource speaker. He discussed topics relevant to the theme of industry-driven curriculum development including introduction to BOPPPS (Bridge-in, Outcomes, Pre-assessment, Participatory learning, Post-assessment, and Summary) Lesson Planning.

Participants underwent a workshop after the lecture wherein they presented their OBTLs and had a teaching demo using the BOPPPS lesson plan. This allowed them to incorporate the skills necessary to the industry needs into learning activities where students can engage.

BOPPPS lesson plan was designed to enhance the efficiency of teaching, foster student engagement, and help students understand learning goals. By incorporating BOPPPS into lesson planning, educators can create a more dynamic and engaging learning environment.

The In-Service Training provided educators and management a comprehensive understanding and practical application of industry-driven curriculum. By continuously improving their skills and knowledge, educators are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of the community and contribute to the development of a skilled workforce.
