MCC IAS and CENRO Unite for Sapang Balen Stream Restoration

 

Mabalacat City College Institute of Arts and Sciences convened with the City Environment Resource Office (CENRO) last 6 July 2023. This deliberated the Sapang Balen project, embodying a collective commitment towards a greener and more sustainable future.

 

The Head of CENRO Engr. Jesusa Santiago and MCC IAS Dean Dr. Marilyn S. Arcilla spearheaded the meeting, yogether with the IAS instructors from Mabalacat City College. Their active involvement underscored the importance of a collaborative approach in community initiatives.

 

 

Central to the discussion was the overarching Sapang Balen project, which encompassed to vital objectives including: Restoration or Development of Sapang Balen; The project could encompass the restoration or development of the Sapang Balen River, involving ecological restoration, community development, and sustainable resource management.

 

Environmental Conservation; With CENRO's involvement, the project has the potential to promote environmental conservation and protection in the Sapang Balen River. This might encompass habitat restoration, waste management, and biodiversity conservation.

 

Community Engagement: The active participation of Mabalacat City College's faculty members highlighted the profound significance of community engagement. The project envisioned prioritizing the active involvement of local communities in restoration and development efforts, ensuring that their needs and aspirations were duly considered.

 

Educational and Research Opportunities: Empowered by the presence of IAS's Dean and the college's faculty members, the project envisioned integrating educational and research components. This could potentially open avenues for students and researchers to comprehensively study the ecosystem, cultivate sustainable practices, and undertake pertinent studies.

 

Among the foremost agenda items was the critical discussion surrounding budget allocation. The financial aspect held evident importance, considering the diverse range of activities to be undertaken. This might encompass funding for various activities such as comprehensive surveys, rigorous research initiatives, hands-on restoration work, and impactful community engagement programs.

 

Through this collective effort, collaboration and concerted commitment towards environmental preservation and community MCC remains steadfast in community involvement. By taking the lead in such endeavors, the college generates a enduringly positive influence on both the environment and the individuals residing within the community.

MCC, Rotary Club of Mabalacat Empower Learners through Homecare Management Program
