Recognizing her impact as a passionate leader in community-based education and social inclusivity, Mabalacat City College (MCC) President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong was invited as a guest speaker in “Setting Her Edge: Leadership, Empowerment, Aspiration, Determination (SHE LEADs) of Women Presidents in Central Luzon Higher Education Institutions (HEIs),” an event dedicated to celebrating and honoring the collective strength, resilience, and remarkable achievements of women leaders in Central Luzon. This was hosted by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III), held last March 28, 2025, at Best Western Plus Metro Clark, Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.

Perfectly timed to conclude the National Women’s Month, the exclusive gathering was carried out as a celebration of trailblazing women who have redefined leadership in higher education, shaping institutions, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation of women leaders to dream bigger and lead with purpose.

In line, a segment called SHE TALKS was hosted during the event, where featured guests had an opportunity to engage in meaningful and insightful discussions to share their personal journey, defining moments, and steadfast dedication as women leaders in higher education.

During the talk, Dr. Ong shared MCC’s best practices such as JUANA Policy, Young Crimson Tribe Center (YCTC), a child care facility for parenting student mothers and employees, and other inspiring stories from women of MCC. She likewise gave a brief personal story as a career woman.

Dr. Ong also emphasized that what makes a woman a better leader is the fact that the pains, challenges, and struggles she experiences become the inspiration for creating meaningful policies and responsive actions for fellow women.
