Mabalacat City College celebrated its success for being the only Philippine Higher Education Institution shortlisted in two (2) categories of the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2021: Outstanding Support for Students for its program “MCC Support Service Goes E” and Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year for “MCC Project Digihub”.
MCC’s Support Service Goes E and Project Digihub were both initiatives to ensure delivery of equal access in education. For MCC, equal access means equal opportunity for all students to avail quality education, access to technology and resources, relevant programs, efficient and effective services, and a supportive community amidst the pandemic.
MCC Support Service Goes E is headed by the MCC Ancillary Group or also known as the Academic Support Staff Introduced Innovations. For the semester, the ancillary group strategy is “Re-envision in order to Re-engage” with former and new clients. The committee included different services such as, “E-tanong kay Dok with E-Consultation” by the Health Service Unit, “Reading is still ON! Here comes E-Library” by the Library Service Unit, E-Registrar, “E-Skwela ng Iskala: MCC Online Music Lesson”, “E-Counselling: Telemental Health and Girlfriend Hotline/Online Counselling" by the Guidance Services Office, respectively.
Meanwhile, MCC Project Digihub is part of the MCC FLEX Transition Plan that was implemented according to the Adaptive Framework for Equal Access in Education and Curriculum-Support to Flexible Learning. Project Digihub was developed and made available in selected clustered barangays, online-ready and fully equipped with facilities. This program was also featured in the SEAMEO Congress 2021-VIRTUAL with the theme, “Transforming Southeast Asian Education, Science, and Culture in the Digital Age” and recognized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III in its event, “Padyak sa Instructions! Pamantasan: Pandayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”. This is in celebration of the 27th Founding Anniversary of the Commission and the 1st National Higher Education Day.
The shortlist for the 2021 Times Higher Education Awards Asia has been announced, after judging nearly 500 entries, globally. The shortlist reflects the top performers in ten categories: Excellence and Innovation in the Arts; International Strategy of the Year; Student Recruitment Campaign of the Year; Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year; Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year; Workplace of the Year; Outstanding Support for Students; THE DataPoints Improved Performance Award; THE DataPoint Social Impact Award and Leadership and Management Team of the Year. In total, inspiring stories from 66 institutions in 22 countries and territories are included in the shortlist for 10 categories.
THE Awards Asia gladly announced, whether in-person or virtual, the ceremony will be a huge celebration of the very best in Asian higher education, taking place on 14/15 December 2021. THE Awards Asia offers a major international platform to recognize outstanding leadership and institutional performance and celebrate the continent's higher education excellence in all of its diversity.
