Mabalacat City College recollects the programs and projects as we wrap-up this noteworthy and meaningful year. One of which is MCC Pro Plus, this program aimed to unbar challenges faced by students with disability, health condition and working students.
Through this program, the college ensures that education will be accessible to everyone regardless of their economic status or health consition. Jucel Cunanan, a Third-year student of Accountancy and full-time Uber Advanced Support Specialist shared her experiences as a working student and how MCC Pro Plus has aided her studies.
“Before, there were times na nagkaka-conflict sa schedule since may mga days na required mag overtime sa work and nag-o-overlap sa time ng class. May mga times din na kailangan magreview after work, so walang pahinga. Usually, wala akong time for extracurricular activities, like attending events. Most of the time, mag-a-attend ako ng class na ilang oras lang or walang tulog. Sa transportation naman, hassle kasi may days na from work diretso ng school, or from school diretso ng work. Nakakapagod din sa byahe, and syempre madaming bitbit kasi need magpalit ng damit.
Kailangan kong maging disiplnado, I always prioritize what are the most important at the moment. If may chance ako to do things early, hindi na ako nag-po-procrastinate. I view myself different from other regular students since I do not have the privilege to only focus sa studies, I also need to do my best at work so I can continue supporting my family financially. Laging hati yung araw ko, yung 9 hours nakalaan na sa work, so I need to double time sa studies pag may free time ako. Normally, pag weekends, I try my best to accomplish my school requirements for the following week. Malaking tulong din yung mga professors na napakalawak ng understanding sa mga tulad kong working student.
Sobrang laking tulong ng MCC Pro Plus sakin since most of my instructors understand na I have limited time for school. May mga professors ako na hindi na ako ni-re-require um-attend ng online classes, and I can watch the recorded discussion in my convenient time. Yung mga time na yun yung nagiging pahinga ko, and chance ko to work on subjects na mas urgent yung requirements. So far, I am able to comply sa mga activities for all subjects. I can now balance my studies and work with the help of the program. MCC Pro Plus is a very considerate and helpful program para sa aming mga working students, it's like helping us help our families na umaasa samin financially at the same time, giving us chance to reach our personal dreams for ourselves, like for me, to become a CPA.”
Testimonies and appreciation such this fuels more the passion and fervor of MCC to continue serving and think of ways it can cater its students and the community. As the college enters 2024, it looks forward to another year of passionately serving the community.
