CCSFP Benchmarks MCC's Best Practices

Mabalacat City College welcomed delegates from the City College of San Fernando, Pampanga (CCSFP) for a benchmarking activity on 3 February 2023 that presented the best practices of MCC including its student and industry-focused programs.

Present during the said event were CCSFP College President Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Melanie V. Briones, Research and Extension Director Dr. Melanie Junio, Dean for Education Dr. Kimberly Mallari, Dean for Information Technology Ms. Avegaille Ferrer, Registrar for Student Affairs Ms. Irene Pineda, Guidance Counselor Ms. Maria Victoria Garcia, Librarian Ms. Micah Blessie Calicdan, General Education Coordinator Ms. Catherine Sigua, Faculty Association President Ms. Rosalie Cayabyab, Student Activity Coordinator Mr. Ralph Jayson Calbang, and Faculty or Star Chronicle Adviser Ms. Romalaine Manalang.

Among the MCC executive officers who also attended the program were MCC College President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, Quality Assurance and Archives Director Mr. Michelangelo E. Cayanan, Dean for Institute of Teacher Education Dr. Arvina D. Sarmiento, Dean for Institute of Business and Computing Education Dr. Josephine Evangelista, Vice President for Global Relations, Opportunities, and Workforce Development Mr. Raymond John D. Vergara, Assistant Vice President for Student Life Mr. Beejay A. Sebastian and Vice President for Support for Academic and Institutional Development Atty. Charmaine P. Lansangan-Venturina.

In this activity, MCC executive officers proudly shared how the College promotes balance between institutional autonomy, public accountability, and drive for continuous improvement. Ways on how its programs are being implemented, including specific goals for human and national development and hands-on experience related to the professional roles the students are being prepared for were also tackled. Presentations included best practices on accreditation, Institute of Teacher Education programs, Institute of Business and Computing Education programs, student life, internationalization and workforce development and Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) balanced scorecards.

MCC College President Dr. Ong expressed her appreciation to the delegates of CCSFP as she shared how the two pioneering community colleges in the Philippines started. She also encouraged CCSFP to embrace the community college framework and hoped that CCSFP would be inspired on how MCC continuously strives to be a center for learning focused on meeting the needs of the students, the community, and industries.

CCSFP College President Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas applauded and recognized all the insights that MCC shared during the short program and hoped that the two institutions will collaborate for future projects and partnerships. CCSFP expressed its enthusiasm in applying all the best practices of MCC on their College, as they realize the need for improvement and innovation to serve the city's needs continuously.

After the said program, CCSFP delegates had a campus tour, where they visited the offices and met the different office heads. The delegates were impressed with all the facilities inside the College, like the smart classrooms and simulation laboratories.

MCC is grateful to colleges and universities like CCSFP for choosing the institution as a model for quality education and training.
