June 02, 2021

MCC Student Services held a Specific Planning Session with the theme: “Consequence-Based Response on Student Services for Balanced Development in this Pandemic Time” at the MCC Cultural Hall facilitated by the Assistant Vice-President of Academic Affairs (AVPAA), Mr. Basty A. Sebastian, held last June 1, 2021.

The session began with an overview of the Consequence-Based Approach based on the position paper of the College President, Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong. This position paper emphasized the need for student services units to shift the paradigm to the consequence-based response. These responses aim to mitigate the effect of online learning hence create balance. Dr. Ong said that this move is necessary so that the institution will not only stay relevant but will also prevent harm to the mental health of students.

The introduction of this innovative approach shall produce activities that will give them a semblance of normalcy. As President Ong mentioned in her position paper, the MCC Student Services must “break the pattern of this zombie-like living” in online learning. To roll out the tall order, the student affairs services unit shall integrate these creatively designed programs with the Academic Affairs Unit.
