DON BOSCO COLLEGE INC., CANLUBANG CALAMBA CITY BENCHMARKS MCC

Mabalacat City, Pampanga, Philippines — Mabalacat City College (MCC) Center for Community Research and Innovation (CCRI) and the Office of Student’s Life welcomed College Department of Don Bosco College Inc., Canlubang, Calamba City on 09 November 2023 for a benchmarking activity. This aimed to foster collaboration, cultivate a continuous educational landscape and facilitate knowledge exchange, emphasizing a spirit of shared learning and collective growth.

Delegates from Don Bosco College was led by Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Joseph Christopher Briana, College Department’s Office of Student Affairs’ (OSA) John Hubert Bagtas, College Instructor Joyce Angelique Sotelo, together with selected students from Don Bosco.

During the benchmarking, MCC shared its best practices related to research, student services programs, and facilities, including the E-Library, MCC-CHED Ideahub, IHTM Hometown Bar and Restaurant and Smart Classroom. The utilization and management of the facilities were explained.

Consequently, MCC Assistant Vice President for Student Life Florient Non discussed with Mr. John Hubert Bagtas and the students staying in the E-Library its significance to academic success. She highlighted various Student Life programs supporting students. She also emphasized projects promoting the physical, social, and mental well-being of students, such as community pantry, corporate boutique, and Guidance office programs, among others.

Simultaneously, Director for the Center for Community Research and Innovation James Darwin Lagman led discussion on the community research approach of MCC in implementing and developing its research endeavors with Mr. Joseph Christopher Briana and Ms. Joyce Angelique Sotelo.

This activity prompted educators from both institutions to assess and share each other’s techniques and strategies, and identify areas for improvement. This ensured their ability to stay dynamic and responsive to the evolving needs of students, the college, and the community.  With this, MCC continues to exhibit its recognition to collaboration and partnership as fundamentals to the development of educational institutions.

The Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) and the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) successfully conducted the first batch of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students on 25-26 November 2024 at MCC Cultural Hall. The event brought together over 100 first-year students, equipping them with skills in life-saving and fostering commitment to social responsibility.
