Mabalacat Bureau of Fire Protection Conducts "Fire Prevention Awareness and Seminar"

The Bureau of Fire Protection - Mabalacat in coordination with Mabalacat City College conducted its webinar on Fire Prevention Awareness via Microsoft Teams on August 27, 2021.

Fire Officer (FO) 1 Francis Carlo D. Cayanan highlighted the importance of  Fire Safety Standards. He said that "The Bureau of Fire Protection is committed to prevent and suppress destructive fires. We are enforcing the fire code and other related laws to ensure public safety".

Further, FO1 Cayanan discussed certain topics regarding destructive fire and ways to extinguish the same.

"It is important to know the ways we can extinguish a fire. Different Fire Classes require different fire fighting agents to suppress the fire.”, he further added.

FO1 Cayanan also demonstrated the proper handling of a Fire Extinguisher using the T (Twist the Pin) P (Pull the Pin) A (Aim the Nozzle) S (Sweep the Nozzle) method.

Subsequently, Senior Fire Officer (SFO) Joel Soriano discussed the importance of the Fire Evacuation Plan. He stated, "The College must designate an evacuation area that is free of electrical poles, combustible materials, organize a Fire Evacuation team, and must prioritize routes for the exit."

FO1 Cayanan said that "This webinar is a good opportunity to remind every employee of the college about fire safety standards to ensure the safety of the students." 

Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, the College President, stated that MCC supports the advocacy of the Bureau of Fire Protection. MCC plans to spread awareness on Fire Safety in the community it serves.

For the record, MCC continues to improve its facilities through renovations and expansions. As such, MCC values the importance of proper training on fire control, hazards, and readiness for a fire-free community.
