MABALACAT CITY COLLEGE HOSTS CAREER EXPO FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS

July 31, 2024

July 31, 2024 – In a continued commitment to supporting the career growth of its students and alumni, Mabalacat City College (MCC), through its Workforce Development Office, hosted the MCC Career Expo for the third consecutive year. This event is designed to provide fresh graduates the opportunities to launch their careers and offer alumni to explore more careers.

The event was attended by MCC President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, Hann Foundation Manager Mr. Ronnel Golimlim, City Public Employment Services Manager Ms. Jacqueline Bungay, members of the MCC Executive Committee, different industries, and MCC’s graduating students and alumni.

Dr. Ong thanked the 49 participating industry partners, highlighting the importance of academe-industry linkage in providing support to students as they enter the corporate world. She mentioned that this effort supports SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth through its Target 8.5.

On the other hand, Mr. Golimlim encouraged the industries present to support employability among fresh graduates. He furthered that offering job opportunities to students not only benefits the companies, but also positively impacts the lives of students and their families.

Ms. Bungay emphasized that learning is a continuous process and that industries are key players in helping the new workforce continue to grow by allowing them to use and improve their skills.

The Career Expo aims to promote employability in the community, especially among the graduating students from marginalized backgrounds, such as First-Generation Students, Indigenous Peoples, and those from single-parent households. By providing these students with opportunities, MCC is helping them secure a better future.

The event featured industries representing a wide range of specializations, including Hospitality and Tourism, Sciences, Business, Information Technology, Education, Overseas Employment, and Study Abroad Opportunities. These industries provided students with valuable opportunities to explore career paths aligned with their fields of study.

In addition to industry participation, social agencies such as SSS, PhilHealth, and PagIBIG were present to assist students in opening their accounts, ensuring they are prepared for employment.

The Career Expo also included career talks designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills as they transition into their professional lives. Students attended sessions on Financial Literacy, Property Management, and Studying and Working Overseas Information Session.

This year's graduating class also became the first to use the Mabalacat City College Smart Access for Human Resource and Opportunities Directory (MCC SAHOD) Career Portal. This innovative platform, supported by SeeMeCV, connects students with industries, offering job opportunities, professional development seminars, webinars, conferences, and more.

These initiatives reflect MCC's commitment to providing quality support to its students, empowering them to create positive, lasting impacts on their lives and futures.

The MCC Career Expo 2024 was made possible through the support of Australian College of Studies, Mekeni Food Corporation, Vitabread Food Products Inc., Coca-Cola, and Smart Communications.

Co-presented by the Local Government of Mabalacat City through the City Public Employment Services Office (CPESO) and SeeMeCV, the expo provided opportunities for graduating students to connect with potential employers and gain insights into their future careers.
