MCC Joins the Very Few LUCs in the Country with Level II Accredited Programs

January 26, 2022

MCC has earned its Level II accreditation for eight (8) of its program offerings. Less than 10 out of 128 local colleges and universities in the country have garnered this accreditation status. Only MCC, to date, among all LUCs in Pampanga and in the Central Luzon Region, has achieved this level of accreditation from the Association of Local Colleges and Universities - Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA), the accreditation agency of local universities and colleges in the country. In fact only 28 LUCs have accredited programs, and only 3 have garnered Level III accreditation status. No LUC has a program accredited with Level IV to date.

A Level II accreditation status, according to the Commission on Higher Education, shall enjoy full administrative and financial deregulation with priority in grants and funding assistance, and may revise its curriculum without CHED approval, among others. This gives the institution a level closest to having the authority to offer new graduate programs, open learning/distance education, extension classes and to participate in transnational education. In fact, MCC is already entering into a consortium for graduate school programs which will be opening more doors and opportunities for its graduates. Also, MCC has already built partnerships with different international academic institutions through the COIL program and hosted webinars.

As the College President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong said, “with a growing community and an international community in its midst, it is but timely for MCC to have advanced to this level. Hence, today is a celebration for MCC. Yes, we are LEVEL II, on the road to Level III and preparing for U!”
