MCC President Joins Department of Education’s Regional Training on Effective People Management as Resource Speaker

June 27, 2022

Pulungbulu, Angeles City - At the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) III, the Department of Education conducted the Regional Training of Trainers for Human Resource Practitioners on Effective People Management (Batch 1) last June 22 to June 24, 2022. This is in line with the DepEds commitment in fostering a culture of continuous professional development among non-teaching personnel.

The training aims to up-skill and re-skill the non-teaching HR practitioners on the processes and ways of effective people management; the importance of effective people management in terms of key concepts, theories, praxis, and principles; the crafting of effective people management theory of change plan of action; and the drafting of the echo training program on effective people management for the non-teaching personnel.

Resource speakers invited were Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, Dr. Ruth Reyes Malabiga, Dr. Carmela Sanchez-Arreola, Ms. Karen De Leon-Galiste, Dr. Ruth Balajadia-Ducut, and Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao.

During Dr. Ong’s virtual presentation “Putting Emotions in the Right Perspective of People Management” she shared the substantial influence emotion has on the cognitive processes in humans. To give concrete examples, Dr. Ong cited some of the Best Practices MCC has on the subject of People Management - practices where MCC shows care to its employees, sense of belongingness, encourages self-dignity, keeps connection among its employees and international partners, and practices to celebrate institutional victories.

Dr. Ong rounded up her presentation by sharing the triumphs and the recognitions MCC was able to get as a result of empathetic people management.

She thanked Dr. Arnel Usman and other Department of Education officials for inviting her to be one of their speakers. She hoped that the presentation inspired HR practitioners to deliver an enhanced people experience amid the limitations sometimes set by the bureaucracy.

Dr. Arnel A. Usman, PhD (Education Program Supervisor) Seminar Organizer stated, "Having MCC President Mich Ong as one of our resource speakers for our DepEd Regional Training on Effective People Management gave us a real experience on innovative management. Listening to the story on how MCC was transformed into a world class college inspired our DepEd HR practioners on how this could be emulated and replicated in their respective offices and even schools across the region. Truly, MCC is a great example on how excellence can be achieved by tapping and nurturing the most important asset of any organization --- its human resource." Regional Training on Effective People Management Batch 2 will be conducted on August 3 - 5, 2022.
