MCC Building and Maintenance Head’s Artwork Catches Eye of Park Inn by Radisson Clark

January 05, 2022

An artwork of MCC Building and Maintenance Head, Democrito Dolandolan, Jr. or sir Demie to most, finds its way inside one of the prestigious hotels in Clark, the Park Inn by Radisson.

A son to an Aeta father from Zambales and a Pangasinense mother, sir Demie grew up in Mabalacat and was exposed to the arts early on in his childhood and fell in love with it since then. He explored different media whilst growing up. He dabbled in performing arts, production design, black and white photography, painting using oil, ink, pencil, and watercolor just to name a few.

He was called to serve his country and joined the Philippine Air Force back in 1991. Although he focused on serving his country, his love for art was never lost and still painted during his active service which lasted until 2011 when he retired from the PAF.

Jumping to 2021, amid the ever looming threat of the pandemic, sir Demie met Dodjie Aguinaldo, a prominent Kapampangan artist. The latter then encouraged sir Demie to paint more and urged him to join “Limitless Art: A Visual Art Exhibit For a Cause” at the Clark Development Corporation Museum along with a hundred more Kapampangan artists (the exhibit is still open until January 29, 2022). It was here where one of sir Demie’s entries caught the eye of Park Inn by Radisson Clark - his watercolor on paper entitled “Ayup” depicting a vividly colored bird resting on a solitary branch (Bottom Left in the photo). And the rest, as they say, is history.

“I joined the exhibit to see famous artists, to see their different styles and techniques and to be inspired. I never thought that my painting would catch anyone’s attention.” sir Demie humbly stated.

Sir Demie’s “Ayup” is now on display in Park Inn Clark’s Main Lobby/ Gallery.
