To provide another certificate program intending to re-skill and up-skill the local community and contribute to potential job opportunities, Mabalacat City College (MCC) and the Rotary Club of Mabalacat officially inaugurated the 50-hour Bread and Pastry training program on April 3, 2024. The program aimed to equip the community members with essential skills and knowledge in bread and pastry making.
This is the 19th certificate program of MCC, following MCC - L&T Certificate in Sewing, MCC x VXI Contact Center Services Certificate and other training programs. Mabalacat Rotary Club Project Head Avelino Antonio underscored the training’s potential to help trainees have sustainable livelihood. Rotary Club President Julie Lumingkit encouraged trainees to embrace the lessons offered and let their passion for baking guide them toward brighter opportunities. Furthermore, MCC Dean for Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) Ms. Jennyfer Merza expressed her pleasure at the trainees' enthusiasm and hoped for its continuity throughout the training session.
OIC Vice President for Global Relations, Opportunities, and Workforce Development Mr. Kevin Aaron Peralta expressed his appreciation for the trainees and their narratives. He highlighted the importance of self-belief and continuous learning, he also reassured trainees that mistakes are part of the learning process.
MCC Instructor and Chef Joven Ocampo led the training sessions. He covered modules on Basic Kitchen Guidelines and Introduction to Baking Fundamentals that provided a solid foundation for aspiring bakers.
Among the Rotarians present were President Julie Lumingkit, Past President Gloria Nethercutt, PP May Valdez, PN Frank Valdez, RTN Avelino Antonio, Director Daisy Dela Cruz, and Director Celia Tumanque, whose support and guidance are instrumental in the success of this initiative.
This livelihood training was made possible through a collaboration with the Rotary Club of Masan Gagopa District 3722-Korea with generous contribution facilitated by Global Grant #2240138. As the training progresses, this collaborative effort of MCC and Rotary Club holds the promise of empowering individuals, fostering skill development, and nurturing a community of passionate bakers ready to make their mark in the culinary field.
