Equipping its community members, including parents of first-generation families, solo parents, and the unemployed, with essential bread and pastry-making skills and knowledge, Mabalacat City College (MCC) and the Rotary Club of Mabalacat officially launched the second batch of the Bread and Pastry training program on 22 May 2024.
MCC Instructor and Chef Harold Van Aquino led the training session, covering Basic Kitchen Guidelines and an Introduction to Baking Fundamentals, providing a solid foundation for aspiring bakers
Past Presidents of the Mabalacat Rotary Club including Elmer Hernandez, Bing Gonzales and Glo Nethercutt highlighted the program's potential to help participants develop sustainable livelihoods. Consequently, MCC Dean for the Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) Ms. Jennyfer Merza expressed her hopes for the trainees' enthusiasm throughout the session.
Among the attendees from the Rotary Club were Past Presidents Elmer Hernandez, Bing Gonzales, Glo Nethercutt, and May Valdez, along with President-Elect Frank Valdez and Club Directors Mary Rose Canlas and Celia Tumagui.
This livelihood training initiative was made possible through a collaboration with the Rotary Club of Masan Gagopa District 3722-Korea, under Global Grant #2240138. As the training progresses, this partnership between MCC and the Rotary Club aims to empower individuals, foster skill development, and nurture a community of passionate bakers ready to make their mark in the culinary field.
